The European Energy Efficiency Fund (eeef) sponsored the Smart Countries and Smart Cities Congress in Paris

Paris - eeef sponsored the Smart Countries and Smart Cities Congress in Paris (S3C Paris) and participated in the expert round table ‘Introduction to Smart Grids’ to discuss its experience working with public authorities integrating smart city solutions. The S3C Paris was attended by high-profile government representatives from around 100 countries, Ministers, Mayors, Presidents of regions etc. interested in learning about technological opportunities in the sustainable energy area and connecting their cities and territories.

Together with eeef, representatives of Alstom France, industry experts and project managers of various energy efficiency and renewable energy projects from the City of Frederikshavns (Denmark) were present in the round table. The panel experts shared their expertise on Smart Cities, Smart Grids as well as Micro Grids and highlighted the need to have an integrated solution that allows municipalities in Europe to fully benefit from innovative solutions, managing information, resources and the infrastructure required to deliver this. The City of Frederikshavns provided an overview on their master plan to become a renewable energy city by 2030, with specific examples of already implemented projects that allowing them to reduce their CO2e emissions, energy consumption with bankable projects.
