eeef finances the building retrofit of the University of Applied Sciences Munich

The University of Applied Sciences Munich and Johnson Controls Systems & Service GmbH (Johnson Controls), signed an Energy Performance Contract (EPC) of EUR 1.1 million of energy efficiency measures on both buildings of the University of Applied Sciences Munich´s campus in Munich-Pasing. Based on a detailed analysis of energy consumption performed by Johnson Controls, energy efficiency measures will include the acquisition of a 49.5kW combined heat and power (CHP) plant, optimization of heating, energy efficient lighting, metering and optimization of the building management and pumping.

The eeef provides upfront financing to Johnson Controls, the Energy Service Company (ESCO) in charge of guarantying the energy savings. To do so, the eeef purchases 70% of the Johnson Controls’ energy savings revenues against the University of Applied Sciences Munich for the building retrofitting services performed by Johnson Controls. The retrofit leads to a reduction of CO2 emissions by 88t p.a – equal to approximately 11.6% savings compared to the baseline years 2007-2009. Johnson Controls guaranteed energy savings of net EUR 118,860 per annum (41.7%) and is responsible for maintenance and building operation services for the period of 10 years.
